DESCRIPTION

SUS 416 Stainless Steel is an Austenitic stainless steel containing sulfur, designed to improve machinability and create precise components. It has good wear resistance and machinability, making it suitable for applications requiring high mechanical strength and excellent machinability.

Key Characteristics of SUS 416 Stainless Steel:

- Chemical Composition:
- Chromium (Cr): 12-14%
- Nickel (Ni): Up to 1%
- Molybdenum (Mo): None
- Sulfur (S): 0.15-0.35%
- Carbon (C): 0.15-0.35%
- Manganese (Mn): 0.6-1.2%
- Silicon (Si): Up to 1%

- Physical Properties:
- Corrosion Resistance: Good in environments free from chlorides and acids, but less than other stainless steels like SUS 304 or SUS 316.
- Machinability: Much better than other Austenitic stainless steels without sulfur, thanks to sulfur reducing friction during machining.
- Hardness and Strength: Provides high strength and hardness, suitable for precision applications.

- Applications:
- Manufacturing Industry: Used in producing machine parts and precision engineering components due to its good machinability and high strength.
- Automotive Industry: Applied in making parts requiring durability and good machinability.
- Aerospace Industry: Suitable for components needing high precision and good machinability.
- Tool Making Industry: Used for manufacturing tools requiring precision and high durability.

- Form and Size:
- SUS 416 is typically available in bars, tubes, or other forms with high precision.

Manufacturing and Processing:
- Production Process: The steel is produced through heat treatment processes to improve mechanical properties and strength.
- Machining: Easily machinable due to sulfur content reducing friction, suitable for machining processes such as cutting, drilling, and grinding.
